The Beach

The beach is a mysterious place where people go to bask in the sun’s rays, enjoy the sand beneath their feet, explore the power of the ocean’s waves against their sometimes very bare skin... It is a mixture of God’s grandeur and man’s establishment - with a strict divide between the sand and cement.

The beautiful thing to me is that no matter how hard man works to create the shop-filled strips the beach is known for, almost always, the beach itself draws more praise and wonder than all the strips combined. And that is part of what I love about it.

Creation, in all its rare and mysterious beauty, draws us in and captivates us in a way that man’s establishment never can. And as we draw near to the creation, we can not help but draw near to the Creator.

One special treat was getting to “greet the dawn” (as our Honduran friends so eloquently put it) every morning with our little songbird. Her internal alarm was somehow set at pre-dawn, so we were blessed to enjoy morningtime at the beach alongside her... (and my family was blessed to have her squeals out of the house so they could sleep in:)
