This is Mr. Caterpillar. We found him outside our apartment later Saturday afternoon. He was very big and squishy for a caterpillar, so we thought we should hang on to him. Since we were on our way to a friend's house for dinner, we put him in a watering can and brought him along to share with all the kids. There was unanimous agreement that he was quite a big fellow.
When we got back home, Hubry did some research and made a little home for him in a plastic bin with some leaves and branches. By the next morning, he was already halfway into his new cocoon, and when we got home from church all we could see was his cocoon. Talk about perfect timing! Now all we have to do is store him outside and wait 4 months to see him hatch into a beautiful Luna moth (we think). Hopefully he will survive and we will be around when Spring calls him forth. It is hard to imagine how different everything will be in 4 months!!
